Road traffic has to use the parallel Rügendamm and Ziegelgrabenbrücke bridges when driving onto or off the island. The Rügen Bridge has been completely closed since the morning for renovation work. The full closure will initially last until June 5, according to the State Office for Road Construction and Transport. In order to avoid traffic chaos at Whitsun, one lane is to be reopened from June 6 to 10. It will then be completely closed again until June 18 before being partially reopened. According to the press release, the work is expected to be finally completed on June 25.
