- 01 August 2025, Baden-Württemberg, Karlsruhe: A prepared Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica) is on display at the Augustenberg Agricultural Technology Center (LTZ). The Japanese beetle is about one centimeter in size and therefore slightly smaller than a one-cent coin. The Japanese beetle, which originates from Asia, can cause particularly severe damage in agriculture. It is one of the pests that must be systematically controlled in the EU.

The double-track line will be completely closed and renovated until April 2026. With 230 trains and up to 30,000 passengers per day, the approximately 280-kilometre route is one of the most important direct rail connections.

They face life-threatening severe malnutrition amid worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip due to ongoing Israeli attacks and the prolonged blockade. Their health continues to deteriorate.
